Grandma Has A New Home (With Us)

Thankfully, the reality of our situation was pretty clear to my wife. She had observed some potentially harmful situations in which mom had unknowingly experienced. All the while Mom was stating:

I am OK, I’ve taken care of myself for 90 years, I can and plan on continuing to do so. I don’t need any help from anyone.”

My widowed elderly mother, living by herself, had reached a point in life where she definitely was requiring some life intervention and it was going to be up to my wife and I. So, Grandma moved in with us at our home.

7 Points Of Pain

Anticipating the retired life we had both worked very hard and long to achieve, and a feeling of afterall, “we deserve it.”

An emotional bitterness, like a dark cloud moved in on us toward my two siblings. Questions like, “why can’t you help, or, what’s the problem with at least coming and visiting mom more frequently?” A bitter attitude on my part was developing.

The realization that Mom and I shared a common trait of extreme stubborness. After she moved in with us, numerous conversations turned into a battle of who’s right or who’s wrong. Even to…
